Akkim, a producer of textile chemicals, became a bluesign® system partner as of February 2020.
It is a standard that assists textile industry steer towards sustainability goals. Bluesign standard involves chemical suppliers, textile producers and big brands and retailers with a holistic approach.
It is different from other standards as it embodies parameters of sustainability such as environmental and resource efficiency, product synthesis processes and lifecycle besides consumer safety. It acknowledged that they key to sustainability is achieving more with less resources.
Bluesign standard is based on five principles of sustainability. These are: resource efficiency, consumer safety, air emissions, water emissions, and occupational health and safety.

Bluetool: Chemical evaluation instrument. Chemical products must be approved on bluesign® TOOL.
Bluefinder: Database containing approved products and system partner suppliers.
Blueguide: Directory of Bluesign-certified textile product manufacturers.
