World’s giant companies from textile to chemistry
Established in Yalova in 1968 to meet Türkiye’s acrylic fiber needs, Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii A.Ş. started production in 1971 with an annual capacity of 5 thousand tons. With its investments and innovations, it is a world giant with nearly 300 customers in more than 50 countries in 5 continents. Employing more than 1,400 people, Aksa is the world’s largest and Türkiye’s only acrylic fiber producer, with an area of 600 thousand square meters and an annual capacity of 330 thousand tons. Thanks to its wide product range, Aksa Akrilik supplies textile and technical textile raw materials in various fields such as carpets, upholstery, sweaters, yarn, hand knitting and industrial filters.
Akkim Kimya, the leading chemical material manufacturer of Türkiye, was established in Yalova in 1977. Operating in five different locations with more than a thousand personnel, Akkim has a special place in the chemical industry with its product variety. The company exports to more than 70 countries in six continents with its wide range of products including chlor-alkali and derivatives, peroxides, methylamines, persulfates, bisulphites, carboxymethyl cellulose, silicon polymers, textile auxiliaries, concrete additives and plastic additives. Akkim, the market leader in many products in basic chemicals and performance chemicals, is the solution partner of cleaning, hygiene, water treatment, textile, paper, construction, plastic, food, metal, energy, detergent, drilling, mining and chemistry sectors. The company sells its know-how and technologies to the overseas companies since 2002, and renders several different services from engineering works to turn-key contracting. Using its presence and synergy in the water treatment sector, Akkim entered the high-tech treatment sector with its ultrafiltration membrane module investment in its Yalova facility and became the first and only manufacturer of this product in the region from Europe to Asia, with its modern factory commissioned in 2016.
The company, whose subsidiaries include Akcoat and Dinox, has incorporated USK Kimya, one of the largest carboxymethyl cellulose producers of our country and the world, in the first months of 2021 in line with the importance it attaches to inorganic growth opportunities. In the last quarter of the year, the company established Akkim Silikon Kimya and started the production of silicone polymers, which are high-tech products, in its Yalova facilities. With Türkiye’s first epoxy resin manufacturing facility, which has been approved for investment and will be commissioned during the first half of 2024, the manufacturing of a completely imported product with high strategic importance will also be started. Pioneering the spread of universal principles on the path of sustainable development, Akkim signed the United Nations Global Compact in 2007 and is an exemplary company in the field of sustainability in the chemical industry.
Operating under the Gizemfrit brand until 2020, Akcoat, a subsidiary of Akkim Kimya, has updated its logo and corporate identity due to the need for an umbrella brand to cover all of its growing business areas. The company produces in 5 main groups including enamel, ceramic, non-stick and decorative coatings, pigment and glass, and is the solution partner of global brands in various sectors such as white goods, ceramic tiles, household and kitchenware, glass industry with its “advanced chemical coating material products”. Preferred in 6 continents and 65 countries, Akcoat has production facilities in Spain and sales offices in the USA and China. In addition, sales representatives and technical services are active in regions such as Europe, South America, Asia and Africa.

DowAksa, Türkiye’s first and only and one of the world’s leading carbon fiber manufacturers, provides carbon fiber composite solutions to industrial sectors, particularly energy, transportation, defense and infrastructure. The company was established in 2012 as a 50 percent equal joint venture between Dow Chemical Company and Aksa Akrilik San. A.Ş. Combining the knowledge, experience and power of Aksa, the world leader in acrylic fiber, and Dow, the pioneer in materials science, DowAksa is one of the few fully integrated solution manufacturers in the industry with its product range from precursor to carbon fiber, from carbon fiber to resin, engineering solutions and know-how.
Joined Akkök Holding in 2021, Epsilon Composite manufactures and installs high-tech composite parts and components for various industries, particularly aviation. Manufacturing products with a very high export value per kilogram, the company has international business partners as well as domestic defense industry organizations. Akkök Holding aims to be a leader in the international competition with Epsilon Composite, of which 95 percent of its total sales are realized through exports.
Real estate projects adding value to life
Akiş REIT, one of Akkök Holding’s companies in the real estate sector, implements projects that improve the quality of life such as Akbatı and Akasya shopping centers in the regions where it operates, and also has street retail projects on Bağdat Street. The company made its first collaboration in this field with Beymen for the Uşaklıgil Apartment, and the second with Boyner in early 2021. Akiş REIT made its first overseas breakthrough with an investment in a housing project developed in England in 2018.
KidZania, which was established on an area of 10 thousand m2 in Akasya in 2014, is a country of children operating in 27 cities in 20 countries. Offering children learning while having fun, KidZania Istanbul has more than 120 roles in 67 different activity areas such as banks, supermarkets, fire departments, hospitals, earthquake simulation centers, stadiums, streets and squares. The energy of Türkiye
Launched its activities under the autoproducer group in Akkök Group of Companies in 1989, Akenerji has been continuing its existence in the sector as an independent electricity generation company since 2005. The company, which is a 50 percent strategic partnership between Akkök Holding and CEZ Group, has a total installed capacity of 1,224 MW.
Sepaş Enerji, which provides electricity supply services with the strategic partnership of Akkök Holding and CEZ Group, is the official electricity supplier of Bolu, Düzce, Kocaeli and Sakarya authorized by EMRA. In addition to being the Commissioned Supply Company, it provides electricity supply services to approximately four million people in a wide range from large industrial establishments to commercial residences throughout the country.
Sakarya Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş. (SEDAŞ) provides energy distribution services to two million consumers in five different regional directorates in Sakarya, Kocaeli, Bolu, Düzce and Gebze and a total of 21 operation centers affiliated to these regional directorates. As of the end of 2022, the total amount of electricity distributed in SEDAŞ’s operating region covering East Marmara is 10.6 billion kWh.

Since 1976, Dinkal Sigorta Acenteliği A.Ş. has become one of the sought-after players in the insurance industry by adopting the “customer-oriented quality service approach” as a priority. It carries out insurance risk consultancy for its customers, primarily Akkök Group of Companies, through approximately 30 insurance companies and its expert staff, and demonstrates works that make a difference in terms of risk.
